Below are listed some commonly asked questions with their answers.

What Is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health.

A chiropractor's first concern is to find out what is wrong with their patient. This includes checking for signs of any underlying disorder. If a patients condition is not one that Chiropractic can help they will have this explained to them and the appropriate 'next steps' will be taken.

Chiropractors are the experts in the detection and elimination of sublaxations ( stiff spinal joints), having made this phase of health care their specialty for more than 100 years.

What is an adjustment?

This is the name given to the manipulation ('hands-on') procedure provided by the Chiropractor. Controlled pressure is applied at specific angles to painlessly correct joint alignment or mobility and enable healing.

How long does a treatment session last and how long is a course of treatment?

Treatment sessions normally take about 15 minutes, however the initial consultation can vary between 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour.

The Chiropractor will advise each patient on the course of treatment necessary. This often can vary with each particular condition. For example, 5-6 treatments may be suitable for a simple case of low back pain. However for a long-standing (chronic) condition of the same, more treatments may be necessary (6 - 12 is typical).

How long will it take to get better?

It depends upon each individual case, everyone is different. Factors to consider are:

* Type of condition present.
* How long you have been experiencing the pain
* Age and lifestyle of patient
